Art in Healthcare
Contemporary Interior Design assigns importance to light, space and colour. The verdict is in: good aesthetics speed recovery and shorten convalescence. Appropriate artwork is an indespensable part of design toolkit. With such direct benefits to patient care and the bottom line, policy makers and institutions increasingly include art in their interior design specifications at the planning stage.
Every institution’s art consulting requirements are unique. We engage independently or in collaboration with others (foundations, architects, developers/builders, interior designers, curators, etc.) to strategize, plan, create budgets, business models and proposals to facilitate the art acquisition and integration process.
We have experience ranging from the GTA to the Middle East; we have specified art installations ranging in scope from a single neonatal intensive care unit to an entire three-hospital medical complex of over 2.5 million sq. ft.
We advocate for the inclusion of art in any healthcare setting to the benefit of all the stakeholders: patients, staff, and visitors.
We have assisted institutions by:
- Appraising existing inventories for insurability, suitability and repurposing (especially as relates to existing artwork and older donations.
- Drafting artwork RFPs
- Creating comprehensive art programs
- Developing project-specific Fine Art Print and photographic publishing initiatives.
- Commissioning new works, including public art pieces, drawing on leading Canadian and international artists.
- Sourcing and installing large-scale donations.
